With the wind from the north and a nip in the air reminding us that, although this is the first day of spring and the final races, it is still the Watling Streetworks ‘Winter’ Series.

The race officer was, with the wind blowing down the valley, able to set a starboard course (clockwise), up the reservoir, across, down and then back up.

In race one it was Ralph Kee (Laser) who led the fleet to the first mark, just ahead of Simon Pressly (Radial).  Although the lead swapped between the two Lasers, it was the smaller radial rig of Simon that was having a much easier time of it in the blustery conditions.
