The weather at West Baldwin Reservoir last Sunday had a distinct feel about it, a bit dull and misty with very light and variable wind giving way to bright sun and an excellent light breeze blowing steadily down the valley.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Mindful that the fleet of 6 starters (Juniors training and others on both national and international duty) could be becalmed, the OOD set just about the shortest course possible.\u00a0 First off the line was Brian Quayle (Laser) followed by Joe and Eric Whitelegg (Enterprise) and Keith and Ted Holden (GP14).\u00a0 After a shambolic start Ralph Kee (Laser) managed to reel Brian in to finish 4 seconds ahead on the water.\u00a0 The Holdens came through to finish third ahead of the Whiteleggs and after handicapping the Holdens got their first win of the season, Ralph second and Brian third.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
For Race 2 with the wind filling nicely and the sun out the OOD set a larger course using the top half of the lake.\u00a0 An uncharacteristic good start put Ralph at the front of the fleet, challenged by Brian until he hit the bottom.\u00a0 The real race was between the Whiteleggs and the Holdens, with the Whiteleggs finishing second, 6 seconds ahead on the water.\u00a0 The Holdens in their dinghy called ‘Summer Wine’ showed that they were far from the ‘last of’ it by winning again after handicapping with Ralph 0.02 seconds behind and Whiteleggs in third.<\/p>\n

All competitors are invited to the MS&CC Clubhouse for a prizegiving and sandwiches after racing on Sunday 25 March which is the last race of the winter season.<\/p>\n
