2012 Annual Dinner & Prizegiving
The MS&CC Annual Dinner and Prize-giving was held this week at Ramsey Golf Club.
After a splendid dinner, the loyal toast was proposed by Vice Commodore Kevin Christian MBE, and this was followed by Commodore Gordon Dickens’ toast to the guests and kindred clubs. He gave light-hearted account of the club’s sailing season and reported that, in spite of the indifferent weather, dinghy racing and cruising had been successful. As well as local racing, club members had sailed in Cowes week, the Channel series, Scottish week, and had cruised in distant waters with one member cruising Scotland and Ireland single-handed. A number of cruising logs had been submitted which made fascinating and humorous reading. The club had also enjoyed some excellent social functions during 2012 and there were exciting plans for the forthcoming year.
Acting Commodore Chris Treanor of Laxey Club responded on behalf of the guests and proposed the toast to the MS&CC. The trophies were presented by Dawn Dickens.
For the rest of the evening the local singing duo Rachael Dalton and Kirsty Knight provided first class entertainment.
