RYA Powerboat Courses 2025

Level 2 – NATIONAL POWER BOAT COURSE

Be competent – learn the essentials to be a skilled powerboat driver (also the basis of the International Certificate of Competence: power up to 10m).

SAFETY BOAT COURSE

Provides the skills required when acting as an escort craft, safety boat or coach boat for a fleet of dinghies, windsurfers or canoes, or for racing or training activities.  Level 2 is required before you can take this course.

If you’re interested in taking a course please contact Martin Jackson, our Powerboat Training Officer, who will arrange a date with you, though this will of course be weather and tide dependent:

Maximum number of 3 people per course. Minimum age 16 unless otherwise agreed. No previous experience required to take Level 2. Course’s start at 1000 at the MS&CC Clubhouse and finish on or around 1700. Cost per person is £320 for non-members and £275 for club members. Cost includes; use of club boats and premises, fuel, RYA Powerboat log book, Start Power Boating Handbook and on successful completion of the end of course assessment a Power Boat Level 2 Certificate ID card together with online registration with the Royal Yachting Association.
