MS&CC Dinghy Regatta
In the fine weather over the Bank Holiday weekend Manx Sailing & Cruising Club held their annual two day Regatta in Ramsey Bay, in conditions that were much better than forecast.
On Saturday three races were held in very sunny and light, shifty conditions, with at least two wind shifts of 180 degrees.
In Race one it was the RS200’s of Andrew Dean and Dave Batchelor that made the running finishing one and two, whilst in Race two it was the Lasers of Mike Pridham and Ralph Kee placed one and two. For Race three on a much reduced course it was Andrew Dean who sneaked ahead of Mike Pridham.
Ben Batchelor and Patrick Cope both sailing Tera Sports, traded places in the first three races to head the excellent turn-out of junior sailors.
Sunday’s forecast was for close to no wind, but as the scheduled start time approached the wind filled in from the north and two races were held, the first going to Andrew Dean and the second to Mike Pridham. The Office of the Day thoughtfully ended the regatta after five races allowing everyone to head for the clubhouse in time for a certain tennis match and the fantastic spread prepared by the Ladies of the club.
Many thanks to Keith Poole for Officer of the Day, the safety boat drivers and everyone who contributed to Regatta Tea.
