The MS&CC Annual Dinner and Prize-giving was held on 19th November at Ramsey Golf Club.

The loyal toast was proposed by Vice Commodore Kevin Christian, and this was followed by Commodore Gordon Dickens’ toast to the guests and kindred clubs.  He gave light-hearted account of the club’s sailing season and reported that, in spite of the indifferent weather, dinghy and cruiser racing had been successful. As well as local racing, club members had sailed in Cowes week, the Fastnet qualifiers, the Scottish series, and had cruised in distant waters with one member sailing single-handedly around Britain. The club had also enjoyed some excellent social functions during 2011 and there were exciting plans for the forthcoming year.

Commodore Mick Kneale of the Isle of Man Yacht Club responded on behalf of the guests and, on proposing the toast to the MS&CC, drew on his long experience to paint an amusing picture of the two clubs’ historic common links leading to the present day. The trophies were presented by Barbara Whipp.

For the rest of the evening the local singing duo Rachael Dalton and Kirsty Knight provided first class entertainment.
